What is Adopt A Sister?

The Adoption Program is a way for you to go with a Glenmary Sister into the mission fields – without ever leaving your home. You adopt a Sister and pledge to contribute a certain amount towards her support each month, quarter or year. To be a part of the adoption program, we request a donation of $25.00 a month or more.

Wherever your adopted Sister is – you are there. Whether she is beginning to nurture a Catholic presence in a new area, bringing the love of Jesus to those who claim no church family, caring for the sick and the elderly, helping someone who is homeless or bringing food to a hungry family, you are with her because it is your prayers and financial support that makes her presence and work possible.

How Does The Program Work?

Once you let us know that you would like to adopt a Sister we will send you a letter of welcome along with a short biography and photograph of your adopted Sister. You will also receive Kaleidoscope, the newsletter of the program. It is published at least four times a year. Three times a year you will receive a letter from your adopted Sister telling you what is happening in her mission and anything else that is on her heart.

The Rewards!

Each Sister considers her adopters not only as co-missioners but also as special members of her Glenmary family. Many times, through correspondence and even occasional visits, wonderful friendships develop as joys and sorrows are shared accompanied by the promise of a remembrance in prayer.
